Basic Children’s Hat Pattern

Basic Children’s Hat Pattern

This hat came about as more of a necessity than anything, since both my kids have seemed to have inherited my keen ability to lose things. However, I’ve fallen in love with all the little details on this hat, and now I want to make one for myself, as well! Worked in the round, it features a clean, tubular cast on edge with a wide ribbed brim to fit a growing head. It also has a gently rounded crown, which utilizes a unique decrease method for a streamlined look. While the hat itself is basic, and can be tailored to a beginning knitter, the added details give it a timeless look that can be worn year after year.

Thanks for sharing this Megan. I’m making hats, mittens, and scarves for my church to give to needy children for Christmas. I think this hat will be perfect.
